Check the frame first
Sit down and rock gently. A creak or wobble at the joints, or a frame you can feel flexing, is the one problem that changes the answer. A loose joint can be re-glued and braced; a split or termite-damaged rail needs rebuilding.

Seats that sink, or leave a dip after you stand up, are almost always worn foam or stretched webbing rather than a broken sofa. Both are standard replacements and the frame underneath stays as it is.
Re-upholstery is a fresh start
New fabric over new foam on an old, solid frame often ends up better than the sofa was when new, because you choose both. Bring a swatch or a photograph of the room so the fabric suits it.
